North Carolina Named “2020 State of the Year”

While 2020 was a very challenging year for obvious reasons, there were some bright spots as well. And one of the most encouraging and uplifting stories was North Carolina being named “2020 State of the Year” by Business Facilities Magazine.

This is the first time — but certainly will not be the last time — that North Carolina has earned Business Facilities’ top honor. A title that has been bestowed annually since 2007.

North Carolina earned top 10 rankings in several key categories for the “2020 State of the Year”:

  • Best Business Climate
  • Workforce Development
  • Manufacturing Employment
  • Foreign Direct Investment
  • Biotechnology
  • Installed Solar Power
  • Unmanned Aerial Systems
  • Fastest-Growing States (Population)

Commented Business Facilities’ Editor-in-Chief Jack Rogers: “North Carolina has been a rising star on our radar for several years. The successful execution of a regional economic development strategy targeting a diverse group of growth sectors in North Carolina is reflected in the proliferation of top-ten results for NC in our state rankings. North Carolina is leveraging its advantages — including a prime logistics location, a steadily expanding skilled workforce, and impressive higher education resources — to seal the deal on one big project after another. The Tar Heel State has put down a marker that it’s ready to compete for a leadership position in the emerging growth sectors of the 21st century.”

Proud of our roots

At Carolina Digital Phone, we have always been extremely proud to have our roots in this great state. The clue is in our name! Over the last two decades, there have been many opportunities for us to relocate to other parts of the country. But we have always believed in North Carolina, and in the strength, character, loyalty, and spirit of its incredible people. There is something very special about North Carolina and the people who live and work here. It’s not just where we all live and work. IT’S WHO WE ARE!

I also believe that being named 2020 State of the Year is a testament to our state’s incredibly supportive business development organizations. Such as the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce. These organizations continue to play a pivotal role in helping local businesses succeed and grow.

I would also like to congratulate all of my fellow business leaders across North Carolina. Who, like me, have made a commitment to creating quality, long-term jobs in our state. We need to take care of our neighbors and support our communities — now more than ever.

As I said earlier, while this is the first time that North Carolina has been named 2020 State of the Year by Business Facilities Magazine, I am certain that it will not be the last. We have the people, the passion, the purpose, and the pedigree to thrive and lead the way. Our shared future is VERY BRIGHT!

Until next time,
