First, Some Background
North American carriers are now using 10-Digit Long Code (10DLC), a sanctioned application-to-person messaging (A2P) service that is replacing long codes. The Campaign Registry was created to serve as a sort of central information hub for 10DLC messaging campaigns. In order to provide an effective and unbiased service, they collaborate with carriers, messaging companies, and industry partners to set up common standards for A2P 10DLC messages. By having this level of transparency, communications service providers will have their registered campaigns fully supported by the carrier.

What do I need to do if I have already registered my Starter Brand?
First, check to see if your registered brand has an EIN. If it does, re-register under our Standard Brand registration process. When registering as a Standard Brand, think about how many message segments you plan on sending out per day – will it be less than 6,000? If so, register via the Low-Volume Standard Registration option instead. However, if you know for sure that you’ll be sending more than 6,000 message segments each day then go ahead and register as a Standard Brand right off the bat.
Now, what do I do?
You will now need to register your 10DLC campaigns through our Standard Brand process, and registering fewer than 6,000 message segments/day to the US is only possible through Low-Volume Standard registration. This new registration process was created for independent software vendors (ISVs) and small businesses that don’t require extra vetting but do have an EIN.
We understand that the transition to 10DLC has been difficult for some, however, we’ve received positive feedback from businesses who have made the switch. They reported increased deliverability, engagement, and throughput. We’re here to help make this transition as easy as possible for you and your business.
We remain committed to working with TCR and the Industry to determine the most compliant path forward while advocating for our customers who continue to drive innovation in business messaging. We will provide updates on this evolving direction as we learn more.
