Why BYOD for VoIP is a Must!

hi tech business desktop

When you’re hosting a party, the acronym that fills your heart with joy is “BYOB,” which stands for “Bring Your Own Beer” (or other preferred adult beverage). But if your company is planning on upgrading to a cloud phone system, there’s a different acronym that is even more worthy of your love: BYOD.

BYOD stands for “bring your own device,” and it allows your company to enjoy three massive advantages:

1. If you have pre-existing compatible phones, routers, and POE switches, then you can integrate these into the cloud phone system. This will save you a significant amount of money and time, just as it did for our customer RGX, LLC — read the press release.
2. If you need or want to purchase new hardware for the cloud phone system, then you have the freedom to choose from a variety of leading manufacturers such as Yealink and Grandstream. You aren’t locked into a small number (and in some cases just one) manufacturer and forced to pay whatever they decide. And if down the road you want to switch manufacturers for any reason, then you’re free to do so.
3. Through a softphone app, your employees can access the cloud phone system through their personal smartphone, while maintaining their business identity (i.e. when using the app, the business name/number appears on caller ID, not their personal name/number). Research has shown that the majority of workers are more productive when using technological devices that are familiar to them. Additionally, BYOD results in time and cost savings. Separate research has also shown that BYOD improves recruitment and retention, and helps get new hires up-to-speed quickly.

At Carolina Digital Phone, our affordable and feature-rich cloud phone system supports ALL of these BYOD advantages — which enables our customers to save money, save time, and support their workers. We’re your remote work solution in Greensboro.
